KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Actor Zed Zaidi has retained the presidency of the Malaysian Artistes’ Association (Seniman) for the 2025-2028 term after winning the election at the group’s 24th annual general meeting (AGM).
Zed Zaidi said his re-election reflects members’ trust in leadership grounded in capability, not just popularity.
Speaking to Bernama today, he said since leading Seniman in 2012, the focus has been on members’ welfare, covering jobs, housing and social protection, while advocating policies directly affecting the livelihoods of creative arts industry players.
Zed Zaidi said the key plans for the new term include developing the National Occupational Skills Standard for the creative arts industry, establishing a dedicated royalty collection body for actors and digitalising Seniman’s management, particularly membership registration, as well as creating a talent bank.
He added that Seniman is expanding volunteer membership in the Malaysian Civil Defence Force through the Creative Arts Brigade, aiming to reach 1,200 members to assist during disasters, in line with Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil’s vision.
