KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Newly-minted Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol expressed his joy and appreciation on the national contingent’s success at achieving the 200-medal target set for the 2025 SEA Games.

He said that the success would spur him to improve the country’s sports development and he carry out his duty at the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) to drive sports excellence, especially ahead of the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games next year.

“Of course, it’s my duty as the new guy in KBS. So we will carry out that responsibility to the best of our ability,” he told the media as he welcomed home the SEA Games national athletes at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport today.

As of 10 pm, Malaysia has won 56 gold, 57 silver and 116 bronze medals for a total of 229 medals, the largest haul in the SEA Games outside of Kuala Lumpur since the 2007 Games in Korat, Thailand.
