Kedah KPDN Collects Over RM867k In Compounds For More Than 1,000 Offences

SUNGAI PETANI, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Kedah recorded 1,071 offences from January to Dec 21, with compounds totalling RM867,350 collected following inspections at 110,252 premises across the state.

Kedah Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) director Muhammad Nizam Jamaludin said checks were also conducted at petrol stations under the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS), covering 1,202 stations from Sept 3 to Dec 21.

“For Ops Tiris, 207 inspections were carried out since January, resulting in 122 enforcement actions with an estimated seizure value of RM3.8 million,” he said after the launch of the 2025 Christmas Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) here today.

He added that the ministry received 1,550 complaints this year, including 470 on product prices, 236 on controlled items, and 302 concerning online transactions.

On SKPS, Muhammad Nizam said 969 companies and 1,227 vehicles have registered in Kedah from Sept 15 to date, comprising 604 companies and 662 vehicles in the public land transport segment, and 365 companies and 565 vehicles in the goods transport segment.

He also said nine items are listed as controlled goods under the Christmas SHMMP, effective Dec 23 to 27.

“The items include imported bone-in lamb, imported round cabbage from Indonesia and China (excluding Beijing), carrots, tomatoes, red chilies, green bell peppers, large red onions, large yellow onions and imported potatoes from China,” he said.
