Police Open Probe Into Alleged Forged Documents Involving Harimau Malaya Heritage Players

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 25 (Bernama) -- The police have opened an investigation paper into allegations of document forgery involving seven heritage players of the national football squad.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the investigation was being conducted under Section 468 of the Penal Code, which provides for the offence of forgery for the purpose of cheating.

“So far, two statements have been recorded to assist in the investigation of the case,” he said in a brief statement today.

The case is being investigated following a police report lodged by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) yesterday, regarding allegations of document forgery involving seven Harimau Malaya heritage players.

FAM acting president Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi yesterday said the action was taken in line with the recommendation of the Independent Investigation Committee (IIC) chaired by former Chief Justice Tun Md Raus Sharif after the committee recently completed its investigation report.

Previously, the IIC, in its full investigation report, submitted three recommendations to FAM following the issue of alleged document forgery involving seven Harimau Malaya heritage players.

The first was for FAM to immediately lodge a police report to enable a full investigation to be carried out to verify the origin of the documents suspected to be forged and to identify the parties responsible.

Secondly, it proposed that the FAM Disciplinary Committee initiate internal disciplinary proceedings against the governing body’s Secretary-General in accordance with due process requirements.

The IIC’s third recommendation touched on governance aspects, with FAM urged to implement monitoring, structural reforms and preventive measures to restore credibility.
