MELAKA, Dec 28 (Bernama) -- The Melaka Islamic Religious Council (MAIM) is channeling RM3.15 million in early schooling aid to 9,000 students from asnaf, hardcore poor and poor families in the state for the 2026 session.
State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Exco Datuk Rahmad Mariman said each student received RM350 in vouchers, which could be redeemed at designated shops within a week to purchase school uniforms and other school supplies.
“The early schooling aid has been distributed to the needy, with Hang Tuah Jaya being the last parliamentary constituency to receive the assistance, benefiting 9,000 primary and secondary school students.
“The aid is part of MAIM’s annual initiatives aimed at easing the financial burden of asnaf, hardcore poor and poor families in the state, helping them to purchase their children’s school supplies and ensuring a smooth start to the school session,” he said after the Melaka Berselawat programme here last night.
The programme, held in conjunction with the 2026 New Year celebration, was attended by the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, as well as 5,000 spectators.
In another development, Rahmad said about 3,000 religious programmes at various levels were implemented in Melaka this year to strengthen Islamic development in the state.
