SHAH ALAM, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has channelled up to RM2 million to cover repair and restoration costs following the electricity disruption at Seri Perantau Apartments in Port Klang, which has persisted since Dec 7.

Selangor Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said that, as an initial step, the state government will coordinate the work, including the appointment of the relevant contractors.

He added that a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative between PKNS and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will also be mobilised, including contributions through the CERIA scheme.

“In addition, the state government is expediting the establishment of a Joint Management Body (JMB) or Management Corporation (MC) to ensure the building is managed in a more organised and sustainable manner,” he said in a statement today.

Commenting further, Borhan said the state government is taking the electricity disruption at Seri Perantau Apartments seriously, as it has affected approximately 600 residents.

“Comprehensive and phased action must be undertaken to ensure residents’ safety remains the top priority.

“The state government will continue to monitor developments closely and work with all relevant parties, including the State Treasury and the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, to implement medium- and long-term solutions,” he said.
