PUTRAJAYA, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Unity Government remains firmly united, with no signs of sabotage or betrayal among its partners.
Anwar, who is also chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH), said this stood in contrast to developments unfolding within another political coalition.
“I am grateful, Alhamdulillah, that the MADANI Unity Government’s consensus is stronger and more sincere, with no acts of sabotage or betrayal as seen in others,” he told a special press conference here today.
The Prime Minister said this in response to the country’s political landscape following internal turmoil and a leadership crisis within Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Earlier today, PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the Pagoh MP, announced his resignation effective Jan 1, 2026, after leading the coalition for five years since its official registration on Aug 7, 2020.
This was followed by a series of resignation announcements by other PN leaders, including Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as PN secretary-general and Selangor PN chairman; Bukit Kepong assemblyman Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal as Johor PN chairman; Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu as Perak PN chairman, and Labu assemblyman Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker as Negeri Sembilan PN chairman.
