KUANTAN, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- A total of RM14.8 million has been allocated for the implementation of the Tunas Makmur initiative, which is expected to benefit about 68,000 students in Pahang this year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the initiative covers all Year One pupils as well as hardcore poor students from Year Two to Form Five.
“The initiative, which began in 2022, provides a complete, branded set of learning equipment worth RM100, including school bags and stationery, as well as scientific calculators and geometry sets for secondary school students,” he said in a statement today.
As an enhancement this year, the state government has also introduced RM100 school clothing vouchers, which can be redeemed at selected supermarkets.
He added that the state government, in collaboration with MBS Bookstore, is also providing 30 per cent discount cards to all students - including kindergarten pupils and those in higher education institutions (IPT) - as well as teachers and lecturers across the state.
“The assistance will be distributed simultaneously on the first day of school at all schools throughout Pahang. The state government remains committed to ensuring that the welfare and education of Pahang’s children continue to be a priority,” he said.
Wan Rosdy also presented a set of learning equipment assistance to 130 students at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Bentong here today.
