US Dollar Ticks Down

NEW YORK, Jan 13 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The United States (US) dollar softened in late trading on Monday, reported Xinhua.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.27 per cent to 98.862 at 3 pm (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to US$1.1672 from US$1.1635 in the previous session, and the British pound rose to US$1.3466 from US$1.3407 in the last session.

The US dollar bought 158.14 Japanese yen, higher than the 157.88 Japanese yen it had bought in the previous session.

The US dollar fell to 0.7970 Swiss francs from 0.8010 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.3871 Canadian dollars from 1.3910 Canadian dollars.

The US dollar fell to 9.1693 Swedish kronor from 9.2025 Swedish kronor.
