13/01/2026 05:41 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry (KDN) today dismissed images of a new passport and MyKad design circulating on social media as fake, emphasising that they are not official releases.

In a statement, KDN said the visuals that went viral do not reflect the actual designs of the new passport or MyKad, as claimed.

“All official details on the design and security features of the passport and MyKad will be released by KDN through its official channels,” read the statement.

On Jan 8, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced plans to roll out the new passport and MyKad this year.

KDN also reminded the public to use official sources to ensure information is accurate and authentic.

It said official updates on the matter can be accessed through the websites and official media of the ministry and related agencies, including the Immigration Department and National Registration Department at www.moha.gov.my, www.imi.gov.my and www.jpn.gov.my.
