Two Men Arrested, Drugs Worth RM328,000 Seized In Kuching

KUCHING, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- Police arrested two local men and seized various types of drugs weighing 7.66 kilogrammes (kg), with an estimated value of RM328,173.50, in an operation here last Thursday (Jan 8).

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the two suspects, aged 42 and 38, were arrested between 3.40 pm and 7.50 pm. involving two suspects aged 42 and 38.

“The drugs seized consisted of 5.66 kg of syabu, 1.82 kg of ketamine, 0.12 kg of Erimin 5 pills and 0.06 kg of ecstasy,  which can be used by about 32,570 addicts,” he said in a statement here today.

Alexson said initial investigations revealed that the 42-year-old suspect acted as a storekeeper and drug courier, while the 38-year-old suspect was responsible for receiving and storing the drugs before distributing them around Kuching.

“The 42-year-old suspect is believed to have received instructions from an accomplice before delivering the drugs to customers,” he said.

He added that initial urine screening tests showed the 42-year-old suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, while the 38-year-old suspect tested positive for benzodiazepine-type drugs.

Both suspects are on remand for seven days starting Jan 9 to assist in investigations, and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
