SHAH ALAM, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Luck was clearly on his side when Mohd Hafizuddin Shoeib, 35, emerged as the grand prize winner of the e.MAS or EMAS Contest, winning a Proton e.MAS worth RM120,000 and RM5,000 in cash.
The contest, organised by national postal and parcel service provider Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) in collaboration with Malaysia’s national payments network PayNet from Aug 4 to Nov 3, 2025, attracted more than 19,000 participants nationwide.
Mohd Hafizuddin, who works as a clerk, said he never expected to win as he had spent only around RM250 to renew his motorcycle insurance at a post office in September.
The Alor Setar native said he entered the contest by scanning a QR code and was notified of his win after the contest period ended.
“I really didn’t expect to win a car. I am very happy. Thinking back, I was about to leave the post office when a staff asked me to scan the QR code to participate. I was only hoping to win a RM100 voucher and never imagined winning the grand prize.
“Pos Malaysia officers called me three or four times, and I even asked for verification from the contest organiser. It was only after they confirmed that I truly believed it,” he said at the Proton E.MAS EON Glenmarie HQ at Section U1, here yesterday, accompanied by his wife, Nor Hartini Abdul Ghani, 35.
In addition to the grand prize, the campaign also offered monthly prizes, including three Hisense 55-inch 4K LED smart televisions, four RM1,000 cash prizes, 12 AEON shopping vouchers, 42 petrol cards, and a 0.5 gramme gold coin for 16 weekly online winners.
Among the lucky winners present were Mohd Khazli Firdauz Khalid, the October first prize winner who won a 55-inch 4K LED smart TV; Mohd Yunus Abdul Hamid, the October second prize winner (RM1,000); Nazali Zenal, the August second prize winner (RM1,000); and Mohamad Fawzee Ahmad, the October exclusive online winner (gold coin).
Pos Malaysia Berhad chief retail officer Khazalin Ghuzal said the campaign was part of a strategic collaboration between Pos Malaysia and PayNet to accelerate the adoption of cashless payments and digital transactions nationwide.
He said the initiative leveraged Pos Malaysia’s extensive network and transaction volumes to promote secure and convenient payment methods such as MyDebit, FPX and DuitNow QR, reducing reliance on cash while enhancing customer experience.
Throughout the campaign, customers were encouraged to spend a minimum of RM150 in a single receipt at any Pos Malaysia branch using MyDebit or DuitNow QR.
“By leveraging our extensive retail network, we have created a safer environment for customers and businesses, while driving significant growth in awareness and adoption across all segments.
“We are proud to lead the future of cashless payments that offer greater convenience and speed, while remaining committed to building trust to connect lives and businesses for a brighter future,” he said.
Meanwhile, PayNet chief commercial officer Azrul Fakhzan Mainor said through the integration of MyDebit and DuitNow QR at all Pos Malaysia branches, cashless payments have become secure and seamless.
He said cashless payments are among the convenient methods widely used by Malaysians, including communities that frequently rely on Pos Malaysia for their daily needs.
“Our strategic collaboration with Pos Malaysia demonstrates how easy it is for Malaysians to use digital payments nationwide.
“By expanding digital payment touchpoints across the country, we hope more people will experience the convenience of digitalisation in their daily lives, in line with the nation’s goal of inclusive financial growth,” he said.
