SUNGAI BULOH, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), through TalentCorp, has entered into a strategic partnership with Ernst & Young Consulting Sdn Bhd (EY Malaysia) to expand the MyMahir AI Roadshow programme, aimed at equipping Malaysians for an economy increasingly driven by artificial intelligence (AI).

The RM110 million worth Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the programme was signed today in the presence of Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, and it is expected to benefit some 22,000 people nationwide.

In his speech at the launch, Ramanan said Malaysia’s approach to AI must be inclusive, people-centric, and aligned with the actual needs of the workplace.

"AI is currently reshaping the way Malaysians work across various sectors. The government's responsibility is to ensure that no one is left behind and that citizens are equipped with practical skills to remain productive, competitive, and employable," he said at the ceremony, which also marked the launch of MyMahir AI Roadshow.

He added that TalentCorp is leading this initiative at the grassroots level through the MyMahir AI Roadshow, ensuring that national talent development priorities are translated into practical AI learning, delivered directly to communities where people live and work.

In a statement, TalentCorp said the national-level MyMahir AI Roadshow will be held in 60 parliamentary constituencies, offering practical AI training tailored for students, employees, women, entrepreneurs, and small business owners.

"The programme focuses on AI applications that can be implemented immediately to increase productivity, generate income, and enhance workforce employability in response to evolving job requirements driven by AI adoption.

"To date, four pilot programmes of the MyMahir AI Roadshow have been conducted in Sabah and Selangor, reflecting the high demand for application-based AI learning at the national level," the statement said.

TalentCorp also highlighted the urgent need to accelerate AI upskilling, referencing its Impact Study on AI, Digitalisation, and the Green Economy, which estimates that about 685,000 Malaysian workers could be affected in the next three to five years if reskilling and upskilling efforts are not intensified.

"These findings are supported by a study from the Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia, which indicates that 45 per cent of the workforce, or about 6.7 million workers, have at least 40 per cent of their tasks potentially replaceable by current generative AI technology," the statement added.
