SHAH ALAM, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- Two people were killed and two others critically injured in a three-vehicle collision on Kilometre 11.9 of the Federal Highway heading towards Klang yesterday.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Ramsay Embol said the crash occurred at about 4.20 am when a Honda HR-V, driven by a man with a female passenger in their 50s, rear-ended a Proton Suprima in the rightmost lane, driven by a woman in her 20s.

All three victims had reportedly exited their vehicles and were standing between them when the Proton Suprima was struck by a Mercedes, which could not avoid the collision.

The crash killed the Honda HR-V driver and passenger at the scene, while the Proton Suprima driver and Mercedes driver were critically injured and rushed to Hospital Shah Alam.

The cause of death for the two victims was identified as head and body injuries due to a motor vehicle accident, with investigations confirming they were friends, not spouses, while police have taken blood and urine samples from the Mercedes driver for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and witnesses are urged to contact Inspector Muhammad Najib Abdul Rahman at 019-7757354 from the Shah Alam district police headquarters (IPD).

Ramsay also advised motorists to stop in safe locations if involved in accidents and avoid being standing on the road, especially in the right lane.
