PTPTN To Ensure RPTM 2026-2035 Education Initiative Reaches Targeted Beneficiaries

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 (Bernama) --  The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that the scholarship and free education initiative for 10,000 students from hardcore poor families under the Malaysia Higher Education Blueprint (RPTM) 2026-2035 is implemented effectively and reaches the intended beneficiaries.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim said nearly doubling the number of recipients will give more children from underprivileged families the opportunity to pursue higher education.

“This move also aims to break the cycle of poverty through education, serving as a key driver of social mobility and the development of the nation’s human capital,” she said in a statement today.

She added that the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the RPTM launch reflects the Government’s commitment under the MADANI agenda to ensure inclusive, equitable, and high-quality access to higher education for all, particularly those from hardcore poor families.

The Prime Minister, in his address at the RPTM launch on Tuesday, said that the PTPTN free education initiative will now benefit 10,000 students from hardcore poor families registered in the e-Kasih database, up from 5,800 under the 2026 Budget.
