ALOR GAJAH, Jan 25 -- The Percha Forest area in Machap Jaya here has the potential to be a new recreational tourism destination to attract tourists, especially those interested in hiking and nature.
Machap Jaya state assemblyman Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem said the Bukit Percha Recreational Forest, which has been open to the public for only six months, is one of the interesting attractions that visitors of all ages can explore.
He said there are three routes to reach the peak of the hill, namely a 0.85-kilometre (km) track, a 1.2 km track and a 2.8 km track.
"The route to the summit is also not too challenging and is quite relaxed, taking only between one and one and a half hours to reach the top, and climbers can enjoy the beautiful views of the village and nature.
"Since Bukit Percha was opened to the public, over 700 visitors have climbed the hill, including children and senior citizens," he told reporters here today.
However, he said some basic facilities such as public toilets, gazebos, and parking areas need to be developed in the area to ensure visitor comfort and safety.
He added that the improvements would be implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development through allocations to be requested under the Third Rolling Plan (RP3) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13).
