MUCM Welcomes Indian PM Narendra Modi For An Official Visit To Malaysia
MELAKA, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM) welcomes India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an official visit to Malaysia, underscoring the enduring partnership between the two nations.
In a statement today, MUCM said the visit highlights the importance of bilateral cooperation, particularly in education and healthcare.
“MUCM congratulates the Prime Minister on his continued leadership and distinguished contributions to India’s national development, as well as his efforts in strengthening Malaysia‑India relations,” the statement read.
MUCM, which has been operating in Malaysia for more than 26 years, said it has played a key role in the country’s higher education and healthcare ecosystem, with more than 10,000 MUCM graduates contributing to the nation’s healthcare sector.
“Today, MUCM attracts students from Malaysia and across the world, reflecting its standing as a trusted institution for medical and health sciences education,” it said.
Looking ahead, MUCM reaffirmed its commitment to deepening the bilateral relationship through collaboration in education, research, innovation and healthcare talent development.
The statement also extended congratulations to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his leadership in strengthening Malaysia‑India ties and advancing the nation’s economic growth and global competitiveness.
“Under his stewardship, Malaysia continues to position itself as a progressive nation that values education, innovation, and international collaboration as key drivers of national development,” the statement added.
MUCM also expressed appreciation to the Federal Government of Malaysia and the Melaka State Government for providing a conducive environment that has enabled the university to thrive.
“The continued support, sound policies, and collaborative engagement of both governments have enabled MUCM to contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s education and healthcare landscape,” it said.
Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will undertake an official visit to Malaysia from Feb 7 to 8 at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in a visit that reciprocates Anwar’s official visit to India in August 2024.
The visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations and foster enhanced cooperation in areas of mutual benefit, building upon the strong foundation of friendship since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1957, and the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in August 2024, which aims to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, education, technology and other key sectors.
