JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- SWM Environment Sdn Bhd has mobilised a total of 4,500 cleaning personnel to ensure smooth solid waste management across 15 local authority areas in Johor in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations and the approach of Ramadan.
SWM Environment corporate general manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin said the large-scale deployment reflects the company’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sustainability, especially amid a sharp increase in waste generation during festive seasons.
He said the operation is supported by 620 vehicles, including compactor trucks, open tipper trucks and roll-on roll-off (RORO) trucks, which are deployed according to local requirements.
“In addition to daily waste collection, SWM Environment is also focusing on the management of bulky waste, garden waste and recyclable items through the implementation of the +1 Collection Service to support community needs during the festive period,” he said in a statement today.
He said under the initiative, residents only need to place such waste beside wheeled bins or at centralised refuse collection points according to the scheduled collection times.
Mohd Norlisam called on the public to give full cooperation by ensuring that waste collection routes are not obstructed, especially by avoiding parking vehicles in areas that could disrupt operations.
He also reminded the public to dispose of fireworks and firecrackers responsibly and in an orderly manner to prevent safety risks and environmental pollution.
