SARIKEI, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at empowering local talent development.
TEGAS chairman Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the MoU covers seven high-impact programmes to be carried out jointly to develop the skills and potential of Sarawak’s youth and workforce.
He said the seven programmes include digital talent development, productivity enhancement, entrepreneurship initiatives, innovation and technology, skills development (upskilling and reskilling), mentorship programmes, and productivity awareness.
Len Talif, who is also Sarawak Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, said the initiative aligns with the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which emphasises human capital and local talent development as key drivers of economic growth and social well-being in the state.
“The most valuable investment for a state is not only in physical development, but in cultivating the minds, skills and character of young people so they can become economic drivers and future leaders,” he said at the Randau Akademi Dalam Industri (ADI) programme at the Sarikei Civic Centre here.
Len Talif added that Sarawak aims to achieve a 30 per cent skilled workforce, equivalent to about 500,000 skilled workers, particularly in high-value sectors such as renewable energy, aerospace, the digital economy, and high-tech manufacturing.
He said the ADI programme features career, entrepreneurship and government service exhibitions, bringing together various agencies and industry players to provide youth and the public with direct information on job opportunities, skills training, entrepreneurial financing, and government support services.
