Public Invited To Safer Internet Day 2026 Celebration At Titiwangsa Lake Gardens

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- The public is invited to attend the Safer Internet Day (HKI) 2026 celebration at Astaka Titiwangsa Lake Gardens here today, featuring a range of interactive and educational activities aimed at promoting online safety.

Themed Smart Technology, Safe Choices: Safe and Responsible Use of AI, the programme is organised by the Ministry of Communications and spearheaded by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to promote a safer digital environment, particularly for children.

The celebration will begin at 7.30 am with the Safer Internet Day ExploRace, followed by strategic sharing sessions by global technology companies, including Meta on Teen Accounts and parental control tools, TikTok on empowering parents through online safety features, and Google on enhancing parental controls.

Parents will also have the opportunity to receive hands-on assistance from MCMC technical teams and experts on setting up safety features and control applications on digital devices.

The highlight of the programme is the official opening of HKI 2026 by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil at 10.30 am, followed by the launch of the Safer Internet Campaign 2026.

Members of the public may also participate in the Safer Internet, Everyone’s Responsibility forum at 2 pm, moderated by social media personality Ariz Ramli, popularly known as Caprice.

Panellists include Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department’s Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division (D11) principal assistant director SAC Siti Kamsiah Hassan, Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) Children’s Commissioner Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Al Adib, and MN Amplified Marketing founder Muhammad Noor, also known as Madnor.

Throughout the day, visitors can explore technology exhibitions, take part in e-sports competitions, attend casual talk sessions and visit booths by the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI).

The programme also features a busking performance at noon and a mini concert at 3.45 pm with popular artistes including Kaka Azraff, Insomniacks, Kmy Kmo, Luca Sickta, Ismail Izzani and Leaism.

In addition, a prize-giving ceremony for the HKI 2026 Video Competition will be held, while NADI will conduct a special interactive session on protecting against phishing threats and online scams.

HKI 2026 is held in conjunction with International Safer Internet Day, observed annually in more than 170 countries to promote safe, responsible and positive internet use, particularly among children and young people.
