Sivasangari Goes Down Fighting To El Sherbini In Q-final Of Windy City Open

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- National squash ace S. Sivasangari gave it everything she had, but it was still not enough as she suffered a narrow quarter-final loss to world number five Nour El Sherbini of Eygpt at the Windy City Open 2026 in Chicago, the United States, on Sunday

The 27-year-old Malaysian, ranked sixth in the world, went down fighting to the third-seeded Egyptian, losing 6-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 8-11 in a 51-minute titanic battle.

The Kedah-born Sivasangari's exit marks the end of Malaysia's challenge at the Platinum-tier tournament.

On Saturday, national men’s number one Ng Eain Yow and rising star Aira Azman saw their campaigns end in the round of 16.

Eain Yow lost to New Zealand’s Paul Coll, while Aira went down to American Olivia Weaver.
