KUANTAN, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- Bio Eneco Sdn Bhd’s latest biomass processing facility in Gebeng is capable of processing up to 20,000 metric tonnes of palm oil waste per month, with the output targeted for export to Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Bio Eneco is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eldridge Energy Holdings Bhd, which manufactures and trades biomass fuel products, particularly palm kernel shells (PKS).

Elridge Energy executive director and chief executive officer Yeo Hock Cheong said the location of the plant was chosen due to its proximity to the port, which allows logistical efficiency, orderly export handling, and consistent large-scale shipments.

“Gebeng is the third plant location after Telok Gong and Kapar in Klang, and we will be opening our next plant in Pasir Gudang, Johor, which is expected to begin operations this year,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after the official opening ceremony of the plant, which was officiated by the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, here today.

Also present were State Agriculture, Agro-Based Industry, Biotechnology and Education Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abd Razak, Eldridge Energy chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmil Khalili Khalid, and Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

He added that the plant, which began operations last year, was developed based on clear principles, namely quality without compromise and disciplined execution.

Meanwhile, Eldridge Energy said in a statement that this development forms part of the company's RM68.14 million capital expenditure programme, as outlined in the group's prospectus, to establish a network of new biomass processing facilities across Kuantan, Pasir Gudang and Lahad Datu.

“The investment underscores the group's disciplined and strategic deployment of initial public offering proceeds to scale processing capabilities, enhance supply readiness, and support long-term sustainable growth," the company said.

The Gebeng facility represents a key pillar of the group's long-term strategy to build an export-oriented, high-quality biomass platform aligned with the accelerating global energy transition.

Designed to produce export-grade PKS, the facility is certified under the international recognised Green Gold Label (GGL), reflecting Elridge Energy's commitment to stringent sustainability standards, full supply chain traceability, and robust carbon data integrity from source to end market.
