PUTRAJAYA, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming yesterday spent time engaging with firefighters at the Presint 7 Fire and Rescue Station here, ahead of the Chinese New Year celebration.
During the visit, he mingled with personnel of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) to strengthen camaraderie and motivate them to continue serving as a key pillar of the nation’s rescue and emergency response services.
At the event, Nga distributed 450 boxes of mandarin oranges to JBPM personnel nationwide as a token of appreciation and to share the festive cheer of the season.
“One of the strengths and unique characteristics of our country is the cultural diversity of its multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multiracial society.
“Therefore, it is very important for us to continuously nurture and celebrate this uniqueness, especially during festive seasons, to further strengthen bonds of friendship in the spirit of goodwill,” he said in a statement.
Nga also expressed his appreciation to all JBPM personnel for their commitment and sacrifices to ensure the safety and security of the people and the nation at all times.
“The commitment of our red heroes and heroines who continue to be on duty even during the festive season reflects their high level of professionalism and dedication in ensuring the well-being and safety of the people is always safeguarded,” he said.
Nga hoped that the festive cheer shared would serve as a morale booster, particularly for personnel who would be on duty during the holiday period.
Also present were JBPM director-general Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad, deputy director-general Datuk Ahmad Izram Osman and senior JBPM officers.
