KUALA LUMPUR, 11 Feb (Bernama) -- Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is providing an additional 46,000 EMUPlus train tickets to meet high demand during the Chinese New Year holiday.
KTMB chief operating officer Afzar Zakariya said 132,000 tickets for travel between Feb 13 and 22 had been made available previously, and that they had all been sold out.
“A total of 46,000 EMUPlus tickets have been on sale since midnight last night to meet the needs of passengers in conjunction with the Chinese New Year,” he said on the Bernama TV’s Malaysia Petang Ini: Tambahan ETS Tampung Lonjakan Penumpang programme today.
Afzar said that the increased capacity was supported by the arrival of seven out of 10 new ETS3 train sets and the additional EMUPlus service for the KL Sentral-Ipoh route, which takes three hours and 15 minutes and costs RM35.
He said that the JB Sentral-KL Sentral route, the newest in the ETS network, was among the most popular sectors, as it links key economic and tourism hotspots, including Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru, and Singapore.
