KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The main structural framework of Wisma ELM in Bukit Damansara remains intact and structurally sound following an independent engineering assessment, according to AmanahRaya-Kenedix REIT Manager Sdn Bhd.

The company said the structural and systems review, conducted by appointed independent consultants, identified no compromise to the building's integrity following the Jan 12 incident.

It said the findings provide reassurance that the building remains stable, with the assessment indicating that the impact was localised to specific areas and mechanical systems.

“The review did not identify any structural compromise to the integrity of the building. There is no indication from the independent assessment of any systemic structural risk,” it said in a statement today.

AmanahRaya REIT said it has been working closely with HELP University, property manager Knight Frank Malaysia Sdn Bhd and the relevant authorities throughout the review process.

It further clarified that all necessary precautionary measures and safety checks have been undertaken in accordance with professional engineering standards.

“Any identified areas requiring rectification, repair or enhanced safety controls are being addressed in a structured and controlled manner, prior to any decision on resumption of operations,” it added.

Meanwhile, the management of AmanahRaya REIT reiterated that safety remains its foremost priority and that it would continue to align with regulatory guidance before implementing further steps.

“We moved swiftly to appoint independent professionals to ensure a rigorous and objective assessment of the premises. The findings provide reassurance regarding the building’s structural integrity, and we will continue to proceed in a transparent manner as broader investigations conclude,” it said.

It added that AmanahRaya REIT remains committed to supporting HELP University and its community during this period. Further updates will be provided as and when verified information becomes available.

The Jan 12 air-condition gas explosion incident in Bukit Damansara claimed the life of a third-year Mechanical Engineering student from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) who was undergoing industrial training, and injured nine others, including four students.
