MELAKA, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Paya Rumput People’s Residency Programme (PRR), a low-cost housing project costing RM80 million, is set to be developed in Taman Paya Emas here.
Melaka Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin said the project is funded under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).
“The People’s Residency Programme, previously known as the People’s Housing Programme (PPR), is the second project to be developed in the Paya Rumput state constituency after PPR Krubong.
“PRR Paya Rumput is expected to provide 280 housing units, giving residents of the Paya Rumput constituency the opportunity to own their first home,” he told reporters at ‘Demi Paya Rumput’ Carnival here today.
Rais added that PRR Bukit Katil project, currently at the tender stage, is expected to be implemented this year.
In a separate development, he said 34 telecommunications towers have been built and are operational across the Paya Rumput constituency since 2021, with a total allocation of RM18.3 million.
The construction of the towers aims to resolve internet coverage and speed issues, which are among the main complaints of residents, he said.
