SUNGAI PETANI, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will reactivate the Rakan Muda Club in all 222 parliamentary constituencies nationwide to further empower youth development.
Its minister, Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, said an allocation of RM1.11 million has been set aside as an incentive to strengthen programmes under the Rakan Muda initiative.
"I would like to emphasise that we will reactivate Rakan Muda clubs in all parliamentary constituencies.
"To kickstart this reactivation, we are providing an initial incentive of RM5,000 to strengthen programmes under the clubs, involving a total of RM1.11 million overall," he said.
He told reporters this after officiating the Rakan Muda Tour and the launch of the Rakan Muda Mega Calendar, themed 'One Month, One Rakan Muda Lifestyle', at Taman Batik here today.
Mohammed Taufiq said that the Rakan Muda Club serves as a vital platform for shaping the nation's future by producing youths with strong character, identity and knowledge.
"It is important to ensure that today's youth are prepared to become quality future leaders who are well-equipped physically, spiritually and holistically.
"With 222 clubs nationwide, one for each parliamentary constituency, I hope they will be active and utilise the funds provided by the government to conduct meaningful activities in their areas," he said.
Meanwhile, he said that the Rakan Muda Mega Calendar programmes would be held monthly at different locations, tailored to the specific lifestyle categories of the host areas.
"Each month, we will select one of the 10 lifestyles under the Rakan Muda Programme to be highlighted. The upcoming ones are 'Rakan Ekspresi' and 'Rakan Muda Ramadan', which will be held in conjunction with the fasting month," he added.
