Slow-moving Traffic In Kelantan As Festive Travel Picks Up

GUA MUSANG, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- Traffic flow at entry points into Kelantan is moving slowly at several locations on Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai today, following an increase in vehicles as outstation residents return home for the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Gua Musang District Police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said, however, that traffic remained under control although volume had been increasing since Thursday.

“Among the locations experiencing congestion are the temporary route of the Central Spine Road (LTU) project near Taman Wangi, as well as at every traffic light junction along the route heading towards Kuala Krai.

“Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Lipis and Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai are the main routes used by road users travelling to their respective destinations and hometowns,” he said when contacted by reporters today.

He also advised road users to plan their journeys and use alternative routes such as the East Coast Expressway (LPT) in Terengganu and the East-West Highway via Gerik, Perak, to avoid a concentration of vehicles along the main routes.

“There are no plans for traffic dispersal at the moment.

“Road users must also ensure they get sufficient rest and check that their vehicles are in good condition before starting their journey,” he said.
