MOSCOW, Feb 17 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Prominent United States (US) human rights activist Jesse Louis Jackson, Sr., passed away on Tuesday at the age of 84, according to a statement from his family, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing... of the Honourable Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson, Sr. He died peacefully on Tuesday morning, surrounded by his family," the statement posted by Jackson's son on social media read.
The renowned rights activist, pastor and civil rights campaigner twice sought the Democratic Party's nomination for US president but lost on both occasions, although he garnered millions of votes in the primaries.
