WASHINGTON, Feb 19 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- US federal employment has fallen to its lowest level since 1966 as the Trump administration seeks to reduce costs and improve government efficiency, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"Meanwhile, federal government employment has shrunk to its lowest level since 1966, saving taxpayers US$29 billion annually," Leavitt told a briefing.
Leavitt further highlighted that 100 per cent of all new job creation has been in the private sector.
According to the January jobs report released by the Bureau of Labour Statistics, the unemployment rate fell to 4.3 per cent in January from 4.4 per cent in December.
