IPOH, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- The Perak state government will channel daily necessities and financial assistance to the Nurul Iman Orphanage at Kampung Manjoi here, which was severely affected by a flash flood incident on Monday.

Special officer to the Perak Menteri Besar for the Manjoi state constituency, Datuk Asmuni Awi, said most of the belongings of the 20 orphans at the home were destroyed and could no longer be used.

He said among the items destroyed were school uniforms, shoes, mattresses, pillows, bedsheets, blankets as well as several other daily necessities.

“God willing, I will strive to obtain new equipment to replace the damaged items so that these orphans can resume their daily lives and schooling as soon as possible. May all matters be eased and may these children continue to be granted strength and protection,” he said in a statement.

The flash floods in Kampung Manjoi and Kampung Tengku Hussein on Monday resulted in 26 people from 10 families being evacuated to a temporary relief centre at Dewan Kampung Tengku Hussein, Manjoi, on Feb 17. The centre was closed the following day.
