SINGAPORE, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- More than 80,000 eligible households living in private properties in Singapore will receive S$1,200 in vouchers to subsidise the cost of installing selected senior-friendly fittings under a national programme aimed at improving the physical living environment for seniors in the republic.
National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat announced on Sunday that the Enhancement for Active Seniors (Private Housing) Programme, or EASE (Private), will be progressively launched from April 1.
“As Singapore’s population ages, we want to better support our seniors to age well within their communities and in their own homes," the National Development Ministry said in a statement.
The EASE (Private) is an extension of the EASE programme for households in HDB (public housing).
The ministry said that over the years, the government has implemented various senior-friendly enhancements across public and private estates.
These include estate-level upgrading programmes such as the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme and Silver Upgrading Programme for public housing estates, and the Estate Upgrading Programme (Silver Estate) for private estates.
