KOTA KINABALU, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- The Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA) has completed nine Master Plan and Feasibility Study reports to guide the planning and implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) for the period 2026 to 2030.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the plans were prepared to continue the development projects of underdeveloped regions including the Economic Development Study of the Sabah Border Area, which has proposed four catalyst projects and 27 proposed projects.

“The rest is the Master Plan Study of the Food Valley in the Interior of Sabah involving five main districts, namely Keningau, Tambunan, Tenom, Tongod and Nabawan covering an area of 2.3 million hectares of land,” he said in a statement after chairing a SEDIA meeting at Menara Kinabalu today.

Hajiji said SEDIA had received an allocation of RM3.7 billion from the federal government since its establishment starting with the implementation of the 9MP, including RM646.3 million approved through the Ministry of Economy throughout 12MP.

He welcomed the federal government's continued commitment in 13MP to improve the balance of development in the lagging regions through the exploration of corridor development and specialised production hubs to harness the economic potential of the local area.

The Chief Minister said SEDIA's achievements in implementing major development projects under the SDC initiative were commendable based on the 'Achievement Outcome of the Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) Project 9th to 11th Malaysia Plan' Report.

Hajiji said SEDIA was also given the mandate to implement the MADANI initiative involving 1,230 projects in the 12MP worth RM102.3 million, including Poverty Eradication, People Centric, People's Amenities Initiative and People's Income Initiative.

"SEDIA's record of successful project implementation since the 9MP to the 12MP proves that this agency can accelerate the implementation process and assess the impact in Sabah, a strategic and potential state," he said.
