KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today handed over contributions totalling RM83,500 to mosques and suraus in the constituency to support the organisation of various religious activities throughout Ramadan.

The wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed hope that the contribution from the Bandar Tun Razak Parliamentary Office to 10 mosques, 12 surau Jumaat (suraus permitted to hold Friday prayers) and 83 regular suraus would help ease the management burden of the houses of worship.

“We are always committed to supporting the noble efforts of mosque and surau committees in organising religious programmes, holding tarawih prayers and preparing iftar meals.

“I hope this contribution will be fully utilised for the congregation and the local community,” she said during the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary-level Ihya’ Ramadan Contribution Handover Ceremony at the Al-Muqarabbin Mosque Hall.

Wan Azizah hoped that the various activities organised throughout Ramadan would help nurture individuals who are spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially balanced, while fostering unity, cooperation and stronger bonds of brotherhood within the Malaysia MADANI society.

She also expressed her appreciation to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department and the mosques and suraus for serving as the backbone of Ramadan programmes and for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the smooth implementation of each activity.
