01/03/2026 05:52 PM

PUTRAJAYA, March 1 (Bernama) -- Three main mosques under the purview of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) will hold Solat Hajat (special prayer of needs) and recite Qunut Nazilah this evening as a sign of solidarity and unity of the ummah in response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the Middle East.

JAKIM director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee said the Solat Hajat and Qunut Nazilah will be performed after the Maghrib prayers at the National Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, as well as at Putra Mosque and Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque, here.

He said that the initiative is not merely a religious observance, but also a manifestation of concern and compassion for the suffering endured by those affected by the prolonged conflict.

“In this blessed month of Ramadan, prayer becomes a spiritual strength, which unites the hearts of believers.

“May this effort be a means for the blessings and help of Allah SWT to descend, grant strength and patience to those who are being tested, and bestow peace, justice and prosperity upon the whole world,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan called on Muslims nationwide to recite Qunut Nazilah and perform Solat Hajat for peace in Gaza and the Middle East.

Bernama reported that Malaysia stands in solidarity with all Muslims and communities in the Middle East, affected by tensions arising from actions by the United States (US) and Israel, which launched attacks against Iran on Saturday.

In a Facebook post today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that Malaysia prays for the well-being of Muslims and all communities affected in the Middle East.

The US and Israel launched a series of strikes on targets in Iran on Saturday, including in Tehran, with reports of civilian casualties.

Iran carried out retaliatory missile strikes on Israeli territory, as well as on US military facilities in the Middle East.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed following the attacks on Saturday morning, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
