Sabah Region 4 PPM commander ACP Ahmad Amri Abd Rahman said the operation, which began at 10 am in Kampung Nambazan, was carried out based on information and intelligence exchanged among the agencies involved.

He said that a raid was conducted on a premises believed to be a storage hub for the products, which uncovered a large quantity of frozen raw materials.

In a statement today, Ahmad Amri said the Ministry of Health found that some of the confiscated meat products had expired.

“The Department of Veterinary Services meanwhile confirmed that there were doubts about the documents submitted due to non-compliance with laws relating to food safety and veterinary regulations,” he said.

Ahmad Amri added that a local man who was at the scene was detained to assist in the investigation, and that the enforcement team also seized a cold storage facility, bringing the total value of the seizure to RM14,560,149.15.
