KUCHING, March 4 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has assured that action will be taken within 24 hours regarding any reports received, including on prices of goods sold at Ramadan bazaars.

KPDN Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Barin said that while the ministry does not prevent the public from highlighting issues on social media, official reports are crucial for immediate investigations.

“Consumers are advised to lodge an official report first to prevent traders from hiding evidence.

“If any traders are found raising prices unreasonably, we will issue notices, and firm action will be taken. We will not compromise,” he told reporters after conducting checks at the Stutong Ramadan Bazaar here today.

He said that from Feb 19 to date, KPDN has conducted 2,682 inspections across Sarawak.

“For this operation, we have mobilised 206 enforcement officers and 89 price monitoring officers who are tasked daily during Ramadan. Our officers are deployed in groups, both in uniform and undercover,” he said.

Members of the public with information or complaints are encouraged to lodge reports via the KPDN Sarawak WhatsApp line at 019-848 8000 to facilitate immediate action.
