National Para Archers To Receive New Equipment

13/03/2026 09:25 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- The national archery team is expected to receive new equipment soon after the National Sports Council (MSN) agreed to provide allocations to upgrade training and competition equipment.

National Archery Association of Malaysia (NAAM) honorary secretary Muhammad Zul Izzi Ab Manaff said the move is not due to a lack of equipment but is aimed at improving the quality of existing equipment to be more competitive at international level.

He said previously the upgrading process was carried out in stages, but this time there was room for a more comprehensive improvement as some of the existing equipment was outdated.

"The MSN has agreed to provide a budget to bring in new equipment. Actually, it's not because we haven't bought it in a long time, but we want to upgrade the existing equipment.

"So far we have been making small improvements, but this time we have been given the advantage to upgrade more comprehensively because there are some pieces of equipment that are a bit behind," he said after the Working Committee Meeting (JKK) at MSN, Bukit Jalil here, today.

According to him, the purchase of new equipment is expected to help athletes maintain a level of consistency in training and competitions.

Without disclosing the budget required, he said that among the equipment that will be upgraded are equipment such as bows including main components such as risers and limbs.
