KOTA KINABALU, March 18 (Bernama) -- Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) plans to restructure its organisation from 74 divisions to just 26 in a move aimed at streamlining and strengthening the party.
Its information chief, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, said the proposal had been approved by the party’s Supreme Council to ensure operations are more organised and effective.
He said the restructuring is intended to reinforce PGRS as a pillar of Sabah’s unity government while enhancing its efforts to champion the people’s interests.
“This restructuring will bring significant benefits to Gagasan Rakyat’s struggle to serve the rakyat,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
Nizam, who is also Sabah’s Minister of Youth, Sports and Creative Economy, said the new structure is expected to be based on Sabah’s 25 parliamentary constituencies, along with one in Labuan.
He added that the party will convene a special general assembly in the near future to deliberate on related matters, including amendments to its constitution.
