TEHRAN, March 20 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- More than 70,000 civilian sites have been damaged in US-Israeli attacks on Iran, the president of the Iranian Red Crescent Society said Thursday.
Anadolu Ajansi reported Pir Hossein Kolivand said the strikes have also injured more than 18,000 civilians.
“The attacks have resulted in damage to more than 70,000 civilian units,” Kolivand said in remarks cited by an Anadolu correspondent.
He added that 251 medical centers and 498 educational facilities were also damaged as a result of the strikes.
A regional escalation has continued to flare since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb 28, killing around 1,300 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
