219th Police Day: Nationwide Celebrations Honouring PDRM Service And Sacrifices
KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 (Bernama) -- The 219th Police Day celebration was held nationwide today in an atmosphere of respect and patriotic spirit, in appreciation of the services and sacrifices of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), which has safeguarded the nation’s security and sovereignty for over two centuries.
The nationwide celebration not only commemorated the history of the force’s establishment but also recognised the dedication of police personnel who served the community and the country with unwavering commitment.
In the capital, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended the celebration at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL), where he also launched the MESRA PDRM Book, a crime awareness module for children and adolescents.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail and his deputy Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
In SELANGOR, some 200 people comprising officers, personnel, retired police officers and members of the public were honoured at the North Klang district police headquarters (IPD) Police Day celebration held at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Soo Jin hall in Kapar.
At the event, North Klang police chief ACP S. Vijaya Rao presented certificates of appreciation to 50 recipients, including 20 members of the public, in recognition of their cooperation in assisting police duties, sharing information and actively participating in police programmes throughout last year.
In NEGERI SEMBILAN, the celebration was officiated by state deputy police chief SAC Mohd Nasharudin Mohd Shariff, who read out the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) message before 275 officers and personnel.
He also presented certificates of appreciation to 17 individuals, including representatives from non-governmental organisations, members of the public and the media, in recognition of their contributions and commitment in assisting PDRM.
Meanwhile, in PAHANG, state police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman attended the celebration at the PDRM Logistics Complex in Kuantan, where letters of appreciation were presented to 22 police personnel, officers and members of the public for their contributions and dedication.
In TERENGGANU, a total of 43 recipients comprising personnel, officers and members of the Terengganu Police Family Association (PERKEP) received certificates of appreciation for excellent service at the state-level celebration held at the police contingent headquarters (IPK), which featured poetry recitals, a war dance performance and a special montage.
The celebration held at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin was officiated by Terengganu deputy police chief SAC Suffian Sulaiman and attended by about 500 officers and personnel from across the state.
Meanwhile, in PERLIS, the celebration was officiated by state deputy police chief SAC Zaihairul Idrus at the Perlis IPK hall in Kangar, where letters of appreciation were presented to 48 recipients, including PDRM strategic partners such as the Police Volunteer Corps (SUKSIS), auxiliary police, retired police personnel and media practitioners.
In PENANG, state deputy police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin, representing Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail, read out the IGP’s message before 400 officers and civil servants at the celebration held at Marine Police Force Region 1 headquarters community hall in Batu Uban, George Town.
Mohd Alwi also presented letters of appreciation from the state police chief to 14 strategic partners, including Penang Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk S. Karunanithy, as well as 17 PERKEP members, in recognition of their contributions and cooperation with the Penang police.
In SARAWAK, the state-level celebration was officiated by Deputy Police Commissioner DCP Saifullizan Ishak in a ceremony held at the Sarawak IPK.
At the event, police officers, personnel and members of the public received letters of appreciation in recognition of their contributions and dedication to the Sang Saka Biru force and the community, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony as a symbolic highlight of the celebration.
