ISTANBUL, March 28 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov announced on Friday that Kyrgyzstan has begun printing its own national currency, “Som,” for the first time in history, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.

Kyrgyzstan has received an international certificate confirming that it meets all necessary standards and requirements for currency production, Japarov said, adding that the country previously printed currency notes abroad.

“Now everything has changed: we have reached a level where we can also print currency for other countries upon request,” he wrote on Facebook.

Japarov said Kyrgyzstan is ready to print currency and other official documents for foreign countries, and Bishkek is already accepting orders from several nations.

“In addition, we produce national documents at a high quality level: passports, ID cards, driver’s licenses, vehicle registration certificates and other important documents,” he said.
