US Military Building 'Big Complex' Under White House Ballroom: Trump

WASHINGTON, March 30 (Bernama-Anadaolu) -- United States (US) President Donald Trump said Sunday that the military is building a “big complex” under the White House ballroom, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.

“The military is building a massive complex under the ballroom and that’s under construction, and we’re doing very well, so we’re ahead of schedule.

“It’s part of it; the ballroom essentially becomes a shed for what’s being built under,”  Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Washington, DC.

Last year, Trump announced the construction of a 90,000-square-foot (8,361-square-metre) ballroom which is estimated to cost US$400 million.

“We're ahead of schedule and under budget. All of the money is paid by myself and donors,” he told reporters.

Trump said there is “not one dime” of government money going into the ballroom.

The ballroom will have “all bulletproof glass” and “drone-proof roofs, ceilings.”

“Everything is drone-proof and bulletproof and unfortunately, we’re living in an age where that’s a good thing,” he added.
