Opposition Protest On Fuel Prices Fails To Address Cost-of-living Challenges - AMK Johor

JOHOR BAHRU, April 4 (Bernama) — The opposition-led protest against rising fuel prices does not address the cost-of-living challenges currently facing Malaysians.

Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Johor chief, Faezuddin Puad, said the issue is not unique to Malaysia, as many countries, including oil-producing nations, are also adjusting and reviewing fuel prices.

“Energy companies such as Saudi Aramco and Algeria’s Sonatrach have reportedly increased official LPG prices by 38 to 80 per cent.

“ASEAN countries are facing similar pressures: the Philippines has declared an energy emergency, while Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore have all implemented fuel price adjustments,” he said in a statement today.

He advised the public not to waste time attending protests that will not solve the problem, cautioning that such events only provide a platform for the opposition to exploit public frustration.

“The reality is, to date, the opposition has yet to present a single serious alternative that could genuinely help the people cope with this crisis,” he added.
