FLORIDA, April 7 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- The crew of NASA’s Artemis II mission reached a record distance of 252,752 miles (406,700 kilometres) from Earth, surpassing the previous mark set by Apollo 13 in 1970, the agency said on Monday, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
NASA said the milestone sets a new record for the farthest distance travelled from Earth by a human crew, exceeding the Apollo 13 record by more than 4,000 miles.
Apollo 13, launched in April 1970, held the record for over five decades. The achievement marks a key step in NASA’s Artemis programme, which aims to return humans to the Moon and expand deep space exploration.
