Trump Vows Action Against Media Over Iran Rescue Leak

WASHINGTON, April 7 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- US President Donald Trump said Monday that Washington would find and jail the journalist who leaked the information about the US rescue mission of its crew in Iran, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported.

“So whoever there was, we think we'll be able to find it out, because we're going to go to the media company that released it, and we're going to say, national security, give it up or go to jail,” Trump said during a press conference.

"We are searching very hard to find that leaker," he added.

On Friday, US media reported that the United States had launched a large-scale search and rescue operation following the crash of an F-15E Strike Eagle supersonic fighter-bomber over Iran.

One of the two pilots was soon found. Trump later announced that the second pilot of the US F-15E jet had been rescued and was safe. According to the president, dozens of US aircraft participated in the rescue operation.

On February 28, the US and Israel began striking targets in Iran, including Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran has carried out retaliatory strikes on Israeli territory, as well as on US military targets in West Asia.
