KUDAT, 7 April (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Kudat branch seized 400 litres of diesel hidden in a store along Jalan Airport here during an enforcement operation under Ops Tiris 4.0 today.
Its Kudat branch enforcement chief, Nazatul Shima Karim, said the diesel was discovered in two drums and is believed to have been kept for illegal personal use.
“A 31-year-old local man, believed to be the owner of the premises, has been detained for further action,” she said in a statement.
Nazatul Shima said the case is being investigated under Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974 for dealing in controlled goods without a valid licence or permit.
She said enforcement efforts would be further intensified, particularly in high-risk areas prone to fuel smuggling and misappropriation activities, including Kudat, Kota Marudu, Pitas and Pulau Banggi.
According to her, Ops Tiris 4.0 is part of ongoing enforcement measures following the government’s “Gerakan Membanteras Manipulasi dan Ketirisan” or GEMPUR initiative, which is aimed at curbing the leakage of controlled goods in the market.
