Murder Case In Buntong: Three Local Men Remanded For Two Days

IPOH, April 8 (Bernama) -- Three local men have been remanded for two days to assist in the investigation into the death of a man with stab wounds believed to have been killed in an incident in the Buntong here, on Monday.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the remand order against the three suspects, aged between 24 and 34, was issued by Magistrate S. Punitha at the Magistrate's Court here today.

"So far, the police have made further arrests involving three suspects at the Buntong Public Market, at about 5.30 pm yesterday. The remand application was made today and has been granted for two days until tomorrow," he said in a statement today.

He said a friend of the victim was still receiving treatment at a government hospital, while another was receiving further treatment at a private hospital with both of them in stable but still weak condition.

According to Muhammad Najib, initial investigations found that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding, but further investigations are still being conducted to identify the exact cause of the incident with a 23-year-old suspect being remanded for a week starting yesterday to assist in investigations into the incident.

Yesterday, he announced that a 25-year-old local man was found lying in the middle of the road with serious injuries believed to have been caused by being stabbed with a sharp weapon in Buntong after police received information about the incident at about 11.10 pm, on Monday.

Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, meanwhile, announced that the cause of the incident was believed to be a dispute between groups, with initial investigations finding that the incident involved a conflict between several individuals in a particular group and was not related to racial issues.
