Police Hunting Escaped Pakistani Detainee From Sungai Buloh Prison

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- Police are hunting a Pakistani man who escaped from Sungai Buloh Prison yesterday while in custody for child sexual offenses.

The escapee is Muhammad Hassan, 24. He was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and black long pants, said Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor.

Hassan was being held on remand for investigation under multiple laws, including Sections 377C and 392 of the Penal Code, Section 14(d) and (a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

"The public is advised to stay vigilant. This inmate is charged with sexual offences against children," Hafiz said in a statement today.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call investigating officer Insp C Muhendran at 010-4304383, the Sungai Buloh District Police Headquarters at 03-61561222, or the nearest police station.

Hafiz also cautioned the public not to spread unverified information or speculation that could hinder police operations or cause unnecessary alarm.
