JOHOR BAHRU, April 10 (Bernama) -- The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has revoked the operator's licence of a transportation company involved in an incident where a trailer collided with a van, resulting in three deaths at the Taman Golden Hill intersection, Gemas Baharu near Segamat on April 2.
In a statement, APAD said its Suspension and Licence Revocation Committee (JPPL) No. 3 Year 2026, which convened yesterday, decided that the company MFG Barokah Enterprise LA failed to meet the licence requirements under Section 57(1)(b)(viii), Section 58(1)(b) and Section 58(1)(c) of Act 715.
According to the statement, the investigation found that the company failed to comply with Article 30 of the Service Level Requirements, including adhering to the Industrial Code of Practice for Safety (ICOP), and also failed to ensure that the vehicles were well maintained.
In addition, the company also failed to control and monitor the behaviour of the drivers, who did not prioritise the safety of other road users and had a driving record exceeding the permitted speed limit.
"In this regard, in accordance with the powers under Section 62 of Act 715, APAD has decided to revoke the Operator Licence 202303040540 (of the concerned company) effective today," said the statement.
APAD said that with the revocation, the company is no longer allowed to operate or offer any services using any vehicles licensed under that operator's licence.
It also emphasised that all licensed operators must comply with the licence conditions set from time to time to avoid undesirable incidents that could lead to the revocation of the licence.
The agency said that it remains committed to ensuring a holistic, efficient, effective, safe, and competitive land public transport system for the benefit of the people, in line with the core values of Malaysia MADANI, which are welfare and compassion.
In the accident, three individuals, including a married couple, died, while two others were injured after a trailer collided with the rear of the van the victims were in.
On Tuesday, the trailer driver involved in the accident was also charged in the Segamat Magistrate's Court.
